Welcome to the PCA-Northeast Cement Shippers Association's (PCA-NECSA) College and University Program! As future engineers and architects, you will play a key role in the building and maintaining of our nation's infrastructure, residential and commercial buildings. Cementitious products have been used successfully for centuries. Many historic concrete and masonry structures still stand as a testament to the strength and durability of these products. Some examples are the Coliseum, the Pantheon and the great systems built by the Romans.
There will be many opportunities for you to work with concrete, concrete products and concrete masonry products throughout your career. We encourage you to take as many concrete related courses as possible as an undergraduate. Our College and University Program is designed to enhance your learning experience and to supplement the test books and other learning materials provided by your school.
We encourage you to browse our entire website to learn more about the program and what we have to offer you and your professors. The following are some services we have to offer:
- Special offers on industry literature.
- Tours of cement, ready mixed concrete, precast/prestressed, concrete block and other industry production facilities. Also, tours of construction sites such as highway paving projects, commercial and residential building projects, parking areas, etc.
- Industry speakers to make presentations on a wide variety of topics.
- Special Technical Resources section of website with technical briefs and pictures for download.
- Internships: PCA-NECSA has many contacts throughout the construction industry. It may be possible to place qualifying students in an internship program. Internships may be done at production facilities (ready mixed concrete, concrete masonry or precast), jobsites and/or offices of contractors, material suppliers or engineering firms. Internships may be paid or unpaid. Internships can be arranged at anytime during the year but it is suggested that there be at least three months advance notice. To inquire about internships, please contact Program Manager, Kim Franklin at kfranklin@cement.org.
